One person has reportedly been arrested in a series of raids carried out by Italy’s anti-terror squad on Tuesday morning.
The operation, targeting individuals thought to belong to terrorist organizations, is taking place across the region of Lazio, which contains the capital Rome.
Police have arrested a man suspected of belonging to Ansar Al-Sharia, a Libyan organization linked to Al Qaeda, Italian news agency Ansa reported.
According to La Repubblica daily, police were following leads from investigations linked to Anis Amri, the Tunisian presumed responsible for the Berlin Christmas market attack. Amri had lived in Italy for four years and was shot dead in Milan on December 23rd, however the link between him and Tuesday’s arrest has not been confirmed.
